This little program is made to entertain and enlighten you.
What you get is a bunch of words in a window. You can
move the words around to make your own wonderful poetry.
It is as simple as that.
Enjoy
Installing:
From a floppy:
Place the floppy in the drive, and run SETUP.EXE from the floppy drive.
The installation script will copy all the necessary files to a directory of your
choosing ( the default is C:\POETRY ). Also, a program group will be created.
Simply double-click on the Poetry Icon and you are ready to go.
From a ZIP file:
Copy the POETRYZ.EXE to a directory of it's own. Run the program.
It is a self extracting archive. Once it is done unzipping, simply run SETUP.EXE.
The installation script will copy all the necessary files to a directory of your
choosing ( the default is C:\POETRY ). Also, a program group will be created.
Simply double-click on the Poetry Icon and you are ready to go.
Playing:
Moving Words:
To move words, simply grab them with the mouse and move them around.
To select more than one word, you can use a marquee select, or select one by one.
To get a marquee box, simply press the right button and drag the mouse
beginning with the pointer on the background (not on a word).
Simply encircle the words you want with the box. Highlighted words will turn yellow.
Then pick up the words with the left button. Or you can select words one by one
using Right-Click on the word. As each word is highlighted it will turn yellow.
Selecting a highlighted word will deselect it.
Saving Poems:
The program retains the last orientation of the words. So if you exit the program,
it will remember where you left everything. If you want to save a small portion,
the ClipPicture option or the camera button can be used to create a picture (bitmap)
of a portion of the window. Simply press the camera button. That will put you in
ClipMode. Then use the Right-Click to select a portion of the screen. This brings up a
new window with the clipping. You can e-mail it to a friend (if you have set up the Mail
Handler options), or you can save it as a BMP file for later viewing.
Other Options:
If you are not happy with the words you have, you can load a new set of words, with File
Load New Words. This will go to the dictionary for a new set of words. Each time you
exit, the previous setup is saved. If you want to keep the previous setup, you need to set
the Options-Prompt for Save on, so the program will not overwrite the previous setup
without asking you first.
Refresh Screen: Since this is an early version, and I am not the greatest programmer,
there are some problems with redrawing the screen, if you happen to overlap words. A
double-click anywhere within the Poetry Window will refresh the screen.
